CPRE Sussex 2014 Countryside Awards: The Winners!

Last night, the winners in this year’s Campaign to Protect Rural England (Sussex) Countryside Awards were revealed at a prestigious ceremony at Firle Place, Lewes, courtesy of Lord and Lady Gage.
The evening was a celebration of the Sussex countryside and the projects that create opportunity, enhance cherished landscapes through innovation and tackle pressing environmental issues across the county.
Artists Paint a Canvas for Sussex
Artists from many local villages including Hurstpierpoint, Henfield, Bolney, Wineham and Steyning have joined forces to create a collection of work depicting the beautiful countryside at risk from proposals for a new town in the area.

CPRE Sussex key to Lewes Planning committee decision

Lewes District Council Planning Applications Committee unanimously refused, against a strong recommendation from their officers, an application by Gleeson Strategic Land to build 110 houses on a greenfield site in Ringmer.
CPRE Sussex Countryside Awards 2014 - Finalists announced!
After several months of reviewing entries and visiting projects, we are pleased to announce that the following projects have become our finalists for this year’s ceremony, which takes place at Firle Place on the evening of the 16th October.
Student Bursary: apply now
The Annual CPRE Sussex Countryside Trust Bursary of £500.00 will be awarded to a student from the University of Sussex studying Environmental Sciences who has a serious interest in raising awareness of environmental and countryside issues over the full course of the coming year (between October 2014 and July 2015).
CPRE Sussex: Formal objection to Ovingdean estate

CPRE Sussex submitted our formal objection to the 100 home development on the 9-acre site at Meadow Vale. Lightwood Property have submitted an application to Brighton and Hove Council to build homes on the greenfield site.
