Last night, the winners in this year’s Campaign to Protect Rural England (Sussex) Countryside Awards were revealed at a prestigious ceremony at Firle Place, Lewes, courtesy of Lord and Lady Gage.
The evening was a celebration of the Sussex countryside and the projects that create opportunity, enhance cherished landscapes through innovation and tackle pressing environmental issues across the county.

Written by William ShawThe CPRE Sussex Environmental Awards have been created to increase intelligent discussion around environmental issues affecting Sussex, drawing the public's attention to them. By using emerging journalists, we want to also draw the attention of younger people to the work of the CPRE.
Winners of the CPRE Sussex Countryside Awards were presented with plaques and certificates by Lady Caroline Egremont and Dr Peter Brandon (Chair of the Judging Panel) at an Awards Ceremony on the 26th May held at Braylsham Castle , Broad Oak. The fabulous home of Mr and Mrs John Mew.
The entries were considered by a panel of distinguished judges, chaired by landscape historian and geographer Dr Peter Brandon. Lady Caroline Egremont, Mrs Phylidda Stewart-Roberts OBE, CVO, DL and Miss Margaret Moore, Vice President of CPRE Sussex, completed the panel.
