Student Bursary: apply now

Thursday, 11 September 2014 12:53

The Annual CPRE Sussex Countryside Trust Bursary of £500.00 will be awarded to a student from the University of Sussex studying Environmental Sciences who has a serious interest in raising awareness of environmental and countryside issues over the full course of the coming year (between October 2014 and July 2015).

To apply please submit a statement of no more than one side of A4 outlining your interests and ambitions, indicating how you would plan to use the fund over the course of the year. How you might investigate issues and dilemmas which interest you involving human impact on the natural world and how you might bring them to public attention. (For example the need to build on brownfield land and the potential impact on biodiversity, fracking vs. renewables and so on)

The CPRE expects the award winner to wish to be actively involved in an aspect of the Branch’s work, this could involve considering and developing ways we can reach out to new audiences.

For example this could involve working alongside:

  • the web manager creating online content, maintaining a blog or twitter/face-book presence
  • the Director, covering major events, interviewing and putting together material for the media, print or on air.
  • or writing for our bi-annual publication the Sussex Review and the web

The £500 Award is open to all students studying on the Ecology and Environment Courses at the University of Sussex in the School of Life Sciences.

(We would consider offering to split the Award to enable two students who wish to collaborate during the year)

The deadline for applications is Friday the 10th of October 2014.

Please complete the online application form below and submit it together with your statement by 5pm on Friday the 10th of October 2014.
