West Sussex County Council planning committee at County Hall in Chichester today (19th June) decided in an 8 to 4 vote to dismiss the planning application by haulage firm, Britaniacrest, for a “Recycling, Recovery and Renewable” thermal treatment facility in Horsham.
West Sussex County Council planning committee at County Hall in Chichester today (19th June) decided in an 8 to 4 vote to dismiss the planning application by haulage firm, Britaniacrest, for a “Recycling, Recovery and Renewable” thermal treatment facility in Horsham.
A recent ‘Build a Better A27’ report by transport consultants Systra, has been criticised by concerned community and environmental groups for a lack of sustainable transport solutions. As a result of several workshops over the last year led by West Sussex County Council, and from public engagement exercises, Systra have put forward two possible options for improving the A27 at Chichester.
A crowdfunding campaign is being launched this week to raise funds for a second legal challenge to Highways England, over their plan to put a dual carriageway through Arundel’s watermeadows and the South Downs National Park.

On 24 May CPRE Sussex’s Chair David Johnson attended a rally and spoke at a meeting of the South Downs National Park Authority alongside local people and wildlife groups to urge the Authority to uphold its statutory duty to protect the park and challenge Highways England’s announcement of the preferred route for the Arundel bypass as option 5a.
