On 24 May CPRE Sussex’s Chair David Johnson attended a rally and spoke at a meeting of the South Downs National Park Authority alongside local people and wildlife groups to urge the Authority to uphold its statutory duty to protect the park and challenge Highways England’s announcement of the preferred route for the Arundel bypass as option 5a.  

The 11th November has seen the release of the long awaited review of implementation of PRNAV (sat nav for planes) at Gatwick Airport on all departing routes to the west and east.

The following letter has been sent to the Evening Argus, in response to their report of 9 June 2015  MPs are United on A27 Widening Through Sussex:

Dear Evening Argus Editor,

Re the A27: your article earlier this month entitled ‘MPs are united on A27 widening’ seems to imply that all our problems will be solved by converting the A27 into a motorway style dual carriageway. Reports produced for the Department for Transport glibly talk about things like 35,000 extra jobs and £860 million of economic benefit for Sussex. These figures have never been justified.

Speaking at the Gatwick Airport Consultative Committee (GATCOM) meeting on 28 January 2010, Sir David Rowlands, former Permanent Secretary at the Department for Transport and current Chairman of the Board of Gatwick Airport Ltd ruled out a second runway at Gatwick for the foreseeable future.
