CPRE Sussex is urging Adur Council to think again over plans to build an IKEA and 600 homes on water meadows at New Monks Farm in Lancing after it emerged that the scheme’s predicted development costs have more than doubled, raising serious questions over its viability.

On Sunday 22 July 2018 CPRE Sussex joined the festivities at the Binsted Strawberry Fair. Over 1200 people attended the fair on a very hot day and many people were concerned about plans for growth in Arun.
CPRE Sussex is warning that the Government’s new planning rules (NPPF) published yesterday on July 24, will make it more difficult than ever to protect some of Sussex's most beautiful countryside.
CPRE Sussex Chair, David Johnson and Trustee and Chair of the Protect Sussex Group, Dr Roger Smith wrote to all Sussex MPs with concerns about the new NPPF. Their Letter (see below) outlined why the new NPPF would not lead to the right outcomes for local people and the environment.
