Climate Emergency for Sussex and the planet

CPRE Sussex has joined the South East Climate Alliance and is supporting the call for West Sussex Council to declare a ‘Climate Emergency’ at its Council meeting on 5th April 2019. The County Council makes hugely important decisions which affect the future for everyone in Sussex, from deciding planning applications for oil extraction and incinerators to building new roads. It is critical that these decisions are made within the context of climate change.

Today (18th March) CPRE Sussex submitted its response to the West Sussex Joint Minerals Local Plan, Single Issue Soft Sand Review – Issues & Options Consultation (Reg.18)

Arun District update, Feb 2019

Since the District Council’s adoption of the Local Plan in July 2018, following a lengthy examination by the Inspectorate, it is fair to say that residents are completely disenfranchised and dismayed by the apparent indifference of developers and the council to the need for new infrastructure to support the building of 20,000 houses by 2031 and the need to protect wildlife and prime agricultural land.

South Downs National Park update

SDNP Local Plan; Examination was in December. The list of Main Modifications is now published for consultation, including some from the Inspector post-examination.

www.southdowns.gov.uk/south-downs-local-plan-main-modifications/

There are a number of modifications relating to biodiversity issues and lots of detailed modifications on specific sites (mostly removing them because they had already got permission or been built). Members in other Districts may want to check the modifications for the sites in their areas
