Hocus pocus targets make the countryside vulnerable

Written by Roger F Smith

Letter published by the West Sussex County Times 24 January 2019

Sir,

Our countryside made vulnerable to large-scale development by Government policies

Horsham District Council’s review of the local plan is in progress and to calculate what the new house- building target should be the Council must use the Government’s new formula-based method, which by means of hocus pocus with numbers has been rigged to achieve an-over England target of at least 300,000 new homes per year.

One of the biggest challenges facing our local councils today is the provision of affordable homes in our rural villages.

This is a part-time post: hours flexible to meet office needs, 9 hours a week, up to £24,400 pro rata, 5 weeks holiday pro rata, working from our Branch Office at Blackboys near uckfield.

With the long winter nights still upon us, now is the perfect time to wrap up warm and head outside to enjoy the magic of the stars.
