Arun District update, Feb 2019

Since the District Council’s adoption of the Local Plan in July 2018, following a lengthy examination by the Inspectorate, it is fair to say that residents are completely disenfranchised and dismayed by the apparent indifference of developers and the council to the need for new infrastructure to support the building of 20,000 houses by 2031 and the need to protect wildlife and prime agricultural land.

South Downs National Park update

SDNP Local Plan; Examination was in December. The list of Main Modifications is now published for consultation, including some from the Inspector post-examination.

There are a number of modifications relating to biodiversity issues and lots of detailed modifications on specific sites (mostly removing them because they had already got permission or been built). Members in other Districts may want to check the modifications for the sites in their areas

Lewes District update, Feb 2019

CPRE Lewes submitted a response to the Lewes Local Plan part 2.

Volunteers from CPRE Sussex prepared a response to the DEFRA consultation about providing a ‘net gain’ in biodiversity for new developments. Biodiversity net gain is an approach which aims to leave the natural environment in a measurably better state than beforehand.
