Rother’s problem of not having an extant plan is exacerbated by the fact that Hastings progressed theirs and persuaded their inspector to agree that Hastings could not provide 3000 of the agreed needed houses in the plan period, and as Hastings is surrounded entirely by Rother – or the sea – only Rother can take up the shortfall.
There does appear to be an increase in developers’ speculative activity, taking advantage of NPPF principles and the lack of the Rother Local Plan, both for small and larger sites.
Rother has its first major solar farm submission, currently out for consultation, about which we intend to comment.
