CPRE Arun respond to the Local Plan Modifications

Saturday, 10 March 2018 11:36

Following the Government Inspector’s hearings at the ADC offices late last year, the Council produced a set of Modifications to the Local Plan. They were formulated considering the representations and comments made by participants that voiced their objections at the hearing and the inspector’s initial findings.

Needless to say, the proposed Modifications are not as far-reaching as we would have liked and do not address all our concerns. Nevertheless, that was the basis on which we had to comment. We gave a lot of thought to the wording and implications of the Modifications, with advice from a Planning expert and decided to comment on the items that we believe are the most onerous and harmful to the community, the countryside and the environment and which do not comply with national policy and guidance.

Although this Plan will almost certainly be approved, albeit, hopefully, with some improvements following our submission, there is still an opportunity to influence the outcome of proposed development to achieve the best outcome for local communities when planning applications are put forward.

In the meantime, we will still be campaigning for a better outcome from the Arun Local Plan, working with other like-minded people and our members, many thanks.

Michael Warden, Chairman,
CPRE Arun District Group.
