Members of CPRE Sussex recently attended a meeting to explore the impacts of Fracking, hosted by the Wiggonholt Association in Pulborough West Sussex.
We are concerned about the potential risk of major environmental harm to the Sussex countryside in particular by water contamination, earth tremors, HGV traffic generation and the industrialisation of the area in the event of large scale drilling, and that these could outweigh any potential benefits from energy generation or the creation of jobs.

Rural campaigners have welcomed the long awaited publication of the Government’s Rural Statement but here at CPRE Sussex we are are disappointed by the sidelining of environmental issues.

Victory in campaign against Easton Farm glasshouses

CPRE Sussex is delighted that, after a lengthy enquiry, permission to construct 50 acres of glasshouses at Easton Farm on the Manhood Peninsula has been refused.

The Government is consulting on plans to relax the rules relating to change of use of buildings. This change, if approved, could have serious implications for the way farm buildings are used in the countryside, with impacts such as additional traffic from commuting.

Our Neighbourhood Planning event on 24 July was a great success and brought villages together from across the county to discuss local issues and learn how to take forward their own Neighbourhood Plans.
