CPRE Sussex and other campaigners react to the planning inspector's decision to increase the housing target in the Mid Sussex District Local Plan from 800 to 1,026 homes a year.
This summer the people of Arundel will be given their first opportunity in 30 years to give their views on options for a new A27 bypass which could change the Sussex countryside forever.
On Friday 2 June we held a bug hunt for families, led by the hugely knowledgeable professor Dave Goulson from Sussex University. We met in the grounds of the university and walked to Stanmer Park, collecting and learning about bugs on the way. We found a large number of Bees, beetles and butterflies and even some small frogs at the Dew Pond. A hugely enjoyable day!

CPRE Sussex works to promote the beauty, tranquillity and diversity of the Sussex countryside by encouraging the sustainable use of land and other natural resources in town and country. We encourage appropriate and sustainable land use, farming, woodland and biodiversity policies and practice to improve the well-being of rural communities. It is our position that local planning authorities should seek to ensure that the negative impacts of development on the countryside, both direct and indirect, are kept to a minimum and that development is sustainable in accordance with national planning policy.

Enough is enough when it comes to aircraft noise say community groups from across the UK

On Monday 22nd May community groups representing hundreds of thousands of UK residents delivered a statement to Number 10 demanding that the next government takes action to reduce aviation noise and emissions. The groups are seeking a new policy on aircraft noise and tough regulation of the aviation industry that balances the interests of people living near airports and under flight paths with the demands of the industry for more flights.

Arun District Council has decided that a house-building target of 20,000 new houses ‘can be delivered’ over the period of their local plan, 2011 to 2031’ (Arun Local Plan Submission Version (ALPSV) Modifications, March 2017’: ‘Housing Supply).
