Volunteer with us!

Friday, 09 June 2017 13:39

The Sussex countryside has never been under greater threat and we are now recruiting new volunteers to help with our vital work to protect it. CPRE Sussex is a small but highly effective charity which relies on a dedicated team of people bringing their skills and time to work with us in protecting and enhancing our beautiful rural landscapes. Join us in this important and rewarding work!

IT Expert urgently needed!

If you are a computer wizard with the technical skills to help us develop and maintain an interactive map of Sussex please get in touch.

The map is an important campaign tool which provides an up to date overview of all that’s going on across the two counties.

Things are moving so quickly with hundreds of developments proposed across the two counties in both urban and rural areas. It’s vital that we keep abreast of the big picture in order to be able to effectively fight inappropriate plans and support the right buildings in the right places.

Making Places Project co-ordinator

We are about to start Phase 2 of our exciting Making Places project and need you! If you are an organised and proactive person who enjoys working with people and is interested in design then please get in touch.

‘Making Places’ is a project which supports sustainable and well-designed development across Sussex. In 2016 CPRE Sussex held ‘Making Places’ workshops in seven parishes - giving communities a real role in identifying what ‘good design’ means locally. This work culminated in the launch of the ‘Making Places’ Phase 1 manual at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) headquarters in London, has been hugely well received at both a local and national level and has been shortlisted for a Planning Magazines Award.

CPRE Sussex is now looking for new volunteers to help us take this important work to the next stage.

The role will involve working as part of a team organizing events and conducting in-depth research at a local level which can then be used in the creation of a new ‘Making Places’ Manifesto to enable us to influence decision makers.

As part of the Countyside Action team you would be working closely with the Chair and have the full support of the Director, other active volunteers and staff.

The work is mainly home based.

We can pay travel and office expenses and for the right person it may be possible to offer an annual honorarium.

District Groups - urgent!

Adur and Chichester districts are both in desperate need of volunteers.

In both areas vast amounts of development are planned and without the support of active volunteers on the ground we are unable to respond to threats to the countryside or to help local groups shape the future of their
communities.

If you care about your local area and want to get involved in shaping it’s future then please get in touch. Your contribution make a real difference.

We are very happy to set up meetings, provide training, support and mentoring.
