CPRE Sussex Countryside Awards 2014

Firle Place Firle Place

This year’s Awards Ceremony will take place in October at Firle Place in East Sussex.

The ceremony will celebrate the work that local groups and communities have put into improving the landscape, rural enterprise and support for local food across Sussex.

Twelve projects have been shortlisted and are being visited during the Summer.

These projects are:
  • Ashplats Wood conservation work near East Grinstead
  • The Crossing - an agro-ecological project in Forest Row
  • Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft for their restoration work and learning space
  • The Greenfield Guardian’s Woodland Flora and Fauna team for their work on owl and bat boxes and pond and meadow restoration, in Hurstpierpoint/Sayers Common
  • The Grove cafe and village stores in Blackboys for community space and local foods
  • Oldland Mill, for the restoration of the Mill near Hassocks
  • Quality Time, for clock restoration courses and craft skills
  • Rathfinny Wine Estate for the design and building of a 21st century winery
  • Ringmer Community College for students’ work on renewable energy sources and environmental education
  • Slindon Forge for the restoration of the old forge building and development of a community space, cafe and grocery shop
  • Sussex Prairie Garden for the develop of a garden with prairie vegetation, cafe, plant shop and craft courses
  • Sussex Produce Company for developing a grocery store and cafe with local foods and drink in Steyning

Judges will be making their decisions during the Summer and projects will be informed of the results shortly afterwards.

Thanks to the other entries that were not shortlisted this time round - your efforts were appreciated by the judges.
