Gray Wood campsite: Appeal dismissed

Thursday, 16 April 2015 09:09

Following vociferous local opposition, and objections from CPRE Sussex's John Hurwood, the Planning Inspectorate has dismissed this appeal in favour of developing a campsite in ancient woodland near East Hoathley.

In his decision, Planning Inspector Clive Tokley acknowledged the strength of local feeling, writing: "The application was refused permission for a single reason relating to the effect of the proposal on the ancient woodland. However, whilst not included within the reason for refusal, I have noted the concern expressed by a large number of nearby residents and the Parish Council about other issues."
