Update: May 2014

31 May 2014

Unfortunately, we remain severely under resourced in Wealden North. We desperately need planning volunteers and a group co-ordinator in this District. Please call or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you can help, training and support can be provided.

However, we are keeping a caretaking watch on the weekly planning lists and responding to member’s concerns where possible. The following objections have been made by volunteers from neighbouring districts:

Northall Clay Pigeon Club, North Hall Farm, Northall Lane, Fletching, TN22 3SA, WD2013/1411/MAJ. Objection made on the basis of the resulting visual impact on landscape character; the impact of the construction traffic on the enjoyment of the countryside in which Northall Clay Pigeon Club site is located; the conflict with adopted planning policy framework for the site and the National Planning Policy Framework. Application approved. Proposed wind turbine at Forest Springs, Upper Hartfield TN7 4DU, WD/2013/2575/F. Commented that “on an evaluation of all the appropriate evidence, it will be necessary to conclude that the adverse impacts of granting permission in this case will significantly and demonstrably outweigh the limited benefits that it offers, especially having regard to the substantial caveats on allowing development within the High Weald AONB”. Application refused.

Proposed 28 houses, Wadhurst College, WD/2013/1737/MAO. Objected the basis that this site is within the High Weald AONB and is not sustainable according to NPPF. Application resubmitted with reduced housing of 26, on 30th May 2014.

Proposed housing, 130 dwellings, at Steel Cross, Crowborough, WD/2013/2410/MEA. Objected on the basis that this site is within the High Weald AONB and outside Wealden’s Local Plan. Application refused.

Four Winds, Wadhurst, Binkers Lane, WD/2014/0411/F. Objected on basis that this would lead to unjustified and undesirable consolidation and intensification of residential developments and would neither conserve nor enhance natural beauty of landscape of High Weald AONB. Application refused.
