Because they;
- Conflict with the adopted Adur Local Plan Policies 5, 7 and 14 in terms of landscape, access to the National Park, reduction of the Green Gap and the reduction of the proposed country park.
- Cause harm to the South Downs National Park, a nationally protected landscape, in contravention of Section 11A(2) of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 and section 85 of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) affords National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty the ‘highest protection’ in terms of landscape and scenic beauty.
- Are contrary to the new NPPF and were not properly reappraised since its adoption, particularly around sustainable transport
- Harm heritage assets
- Harm wildlife and protected habitats
- Increase flood risk
- Increase congestion
Yours sincerely,
