Land at Shoreham Airport earmarked for development by Adur Council flooded last week as photographs taken by a CPRE member on 6 December shows. The Adur District Plan identifies 15,000 sq m of land north east of the airport for potential business development.
Even bearing in mind the Environment Agency's £28m flood defence scheme for the area, commencing in 2014, the recent flooding - which occurred after the plan consultation expired - underlines the environmental fragility of the area and its unsuitability for development.
