Arundel Bypass Option A Arundel Bypass Option A

CPRE Sussex and the South Downs Society have written a joint letter to the new Secretary of State for Transport to highlight our support for what is locally know as the 'purple route' in relation to the current options identification for improvements to the A27 at Arundel, which will go out for consultation in spring 2017.

For more information about this route go to the Arundel Bypass Neighbourhood Committee website: http://www.arundelbypass.co.uk

Here you can also sign a petition to  the Secretary of State for Transport, Highways England, Nick Herbert MP, West Sussex County Council, Arun District Council, and the South Downs National Park Authority, to:

  • REJECT any route for the Arundel bypass through Binsted village and its countryside. Highways should drop the Binsted option now, as they did the furthest-offline options at Worthing and Chichester.
  • RECOMMEND that other options, less damaging to countryside and villages, should be brought to public consultation. The Arundel A27 Forum suggests a partly-online option with a short bypass and anti-severance measures. This should be included in the public consultation.
