Global Climate March in Horsham

Friday, 04 December 2015 14:19

In a bid to raise awareness of climate and environmental issues facing the local area, local residents held a very successful family-friendly rally through Horsham on 29th November 2015 as part of the global ‘Time To Act’ Climate March.

The marchers set off on the mile-long route just before midday, taking in stops along the route to listen to speakers commenting on climate issues of national and local importance, from development to Gatwick expansion to fossil fuels and air pollution.

The march was organised by CAGNE., Communities Against Noise and Emissions. CAGNE was formed by concerned residents in February 2014 as a result of Gatwick Airport’s new flight path (ADNID) over an area not previously over flown by planes.

CAGNE aims to inform and share information between residents on the  new flight paths out of Gatwick Airport.

CAGNE does not support a new runway at Gatwick Airport for many reasons such as lack of infrastructure to support an airport the size of Heathrow and, it will bring an even greater number of new flight paths over areas not previously flown over before.
