- Attend a training day on “Using the Planning System to Fight Fracking” in Manchester www.foe.co.uk/news_events/events_index.html
Recommendations from Georgia Wrighton, CPRE Sussex:
- Attend a Sussex MPs’ surgery in the House of Commons, hosted by Nick Herbert MP to discuss issues of concern like fracking. (CPRE Sussex is in the process of arranging this event, details to be announced).
- Lobby your MP to decline proposals in the Growth and Infrastructure Bill under ‘clause 24’ to ensure that fracking applications continue to be considered at the County level – not fast-tracked by the ‘nationally important infrastructure’ route and dealt with centrally without any specific policy. CPRE Sussex sent out a ‘call for action’ by email to members and e-subscribers to lobby their MPs. (Subscribe to our e-newsletter: www.cpresussex.org.uk/resources ).
- CPRE campaigners can benefit from resources developed by Friends of the Earth for best practice County level planning policies used to assess Fracking applications, and in arguing that Environmental Impact Assessments are required in every case. www.foe.co.uk/resource/briefings/local_development_framewor0.pdf
